Parallels Desktop is another virtualization solution but at this time doesn't support 3D hardware acceleration.

A very popular alternative to Flight Simulator X is X-Plane by Graphsim, and another is Macsoft's Fly! II.

Looks like X-Plane is not universal yet just PPC, so I'm not sure how well a game would run in Rosetta. Has anyone ran a current 3D game in Rosetta yet?

xplane (I am running 8.40) is a universal binary. it runs fine but is a little more difficult to setup flights and gps navigation than microsoft flight simulator. besides that it is very comparable.

Thanks for the info I guess they did not update their site to say it was. How does the graphics compare to MS Flight Sim?

graphics compare favorably to microsoft flight sim. the ground features are not as good, but the clouds are much better in my opinion. overall, i would say it is a wash.

as for running it on the mac book pro, the default settings run no problem on the mbpro and framerates are plenty high. the only peculiarity is that most of the instrument panels i have seen are designed for 1024x768 resolutions and don't stretch to fill the entire screen, but rather is centered on the mbpro screen. while this is a bit distracting at first, it is easy to get used to and the outside scenery fills the edges, so it really isn't a problem.

The only problem is I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick and I went to Logitech's site and there is no driver for Mac's. So does that mean I am SOL?

Flight Sim works great in Boot Camp.
Also using a Logitech joystick, which also rocks.

Yeah, I have already plagued my OS with Parallels/XP not sure if I want to make the Bootcamp leap yet. I already have a PC gaming system, just shopping around for some Mac games.

can you play any of these without a joystick and just use the keyboard?

Well I have only bought one 3D game for my MBP and it was Call of Duty United Offensive. Which when I bought it I was new to Mac Intel's and did not check to see if it was Universal and it's PPC unless they have a patch for it. I was just checking out that Flight Sim game for the Mac. I have flight Sim 2000 for Windoze but I was looking for something a little different.
