Problem running third party apps in clean installed mavericks HELP....Consol code knowledge needed!

Yo Guys

I've had some kernel problems with my mid2010 MBP, problems booting, crashes etc. so decided to make a clean install of mavericks, first through the recovery partion, later at the genius bar (they coudnt help me and blamed my toshiba HD (not generic mac) allthough i strongly doubt its the HD since it has passed every test.

still i've no thirdparty apps installed, so when after the clean install i tried to install spotify, it hangs(keeps bouncing in dock), same goes for transmission. This happens the same before and after my clean install, but didnt two weeks ago...WEIRD!

What makes it all weirder is that the spotify install will run and install in safe boot, but it doesnt in normal mode.....

I can add a etrecheck but since its only a mevericks install you guys could guess the results, everything tests perfect......Its like i've MBP with a burnout, no doctor or app or diagnositc can find any flaw, geniusses arent so genius when behind my laptop, but it behaves very ill.....all&all its just super weird.

I hope some of you guys are able to read the code in consol, and maybe shine a light on whats wrong. I see some problem occuring the Kernel mach and libsystem_kernel.dylib) and (libsystem_pthread.dylib) still i've no idea how to fix or what it means...

this is the log of transmission, which usually just runs inside its app.

Those are crash/hang reports primarily designed for the developer.

The messages in Console, All Messages around the time of the problems might be more useful.

It is entirely possible the hangs are caused by a failing hard drive, and they will continue to "pass all the tests" until failure. Do you see any I/O messages in the log?

The mid 2010 15" Macbook Pro has a known GPU defect, but that doesn't sound like your problem: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088

If the hard drive is only one year old, it could still fail, but that is much less likely.

If you have some problematic 3rd party software, it could affect any application, including the system software. I know you said this is a clean install, but you could have using Migration Assistant or something that coped some old software back on.

I wrote a little diagnostic program to help show what software is running in the background and could cause such problems. Download EtreCheck from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck, run it, and paste the results here. EtreCheck is perfectly safe to run, does not ask for your password to install, and is signed with my Apple Developer ID.

Disclaimer: Although EtreCheck is free, there are other links on my site that could give me some form of compensation, financial or otherwise.

Ya, I'm going to replace the HDD just with another one to check how everything runs, I wasnt aware that broken HDD can pass disc utilities diagnostic tests and multiple erases, clean installs etc..

I've to say i had this exact (app)problem in the beginning of 2014, but back than it just went away after 1 clean install, leaving me with a MBP running apps like ableton and logic smoothly, being able to dowload torrents with 10MB/s i figured you need a workin HDD for that......

Fingers crossed that a new HDD helps......I'll keep you guys posted.......:D

thnx for thinking with me guys, I really appreciate it.

no the apps dont run in other user accounts, only in safe boot 😟

Well, that's kind of odd in that you don't seem to have anything installed that would be disabled in Safe Mode. If they run ok in safe mode, I don't know how it would be a hard drive issue.

There are quite a few threads on the Mid-2010 Macbook Pro having issues with Mavericks, possibly unrelated to the GPU problem I posted.

Oke!

This weekend i used a Fujitsu 160GB MBP HD (def not broken) instead of my 750GB Toshiba, First i Installed mavericks through an ATA to USB in recovery mode, after the install i started the OSX from the usb and it ran, i could even istall the apps spotify and transmission what made my kinda excited at first. So I shut down the MBP and put the fujitsu HD inside, and try to boot again......same problem it didnt boot (did boot in safe mode obviously....).

SOOO I thought maybe its the the ATA to Logic board cable inside my mac (it has been broken before) so got the fujitsu out again and tried to booth it from the usb again, and got back in the loop of seeing the spinnin logo just before the moment you can login..... Other weird aspect is that i can login through another mac in my network....but that another thing..

All & All i didnt make any progress besides knowing my HD isnt the problem....Ooo I love those ****** (genius) Idiots at the Amsterdam Mac Store.....why are they called Genius if they are such Retards....?

What should be my next move? Change RAM??? allthough it always tested ok? Does anybody have any ideas.....! i'm kinda out of moves....

Another kinda relevant question is, Can this problem be Software related.......? Or (if RAM change doesnt work) I have a broken Logic Board? Allthough i've never seen a broken logic board which was able to run and install a OSX etc

I am starting to get kinda desperate......

I don't think Safe Mode would resolve a RAM problem. However, if Safe Mode also disables Memory Compression (which I do not know), maybe that is why it works.

I'm pretty much out of normal ideas.

This thread has a lot of problems with graphics on the 2010 MBP, which a few have resolved by disabling memory compression. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5673404?start=45&tstart=0

aah, definitly gonna try that tonight......just to see if it helps.... about the safemode, is it safe to assume that when running safemode, my logic board isnt broken?

Just like my assumption that Safe Mode might disable memory compression, Safe Mode may also not enable features that are taxing that hardware on your logic board.

Problem running third party apps in clean installed mavericks HELP....Consol code knowledge needed!
