MacBook Air iPhoto problem

I recently purchased MacBook Air (mid 2013), and I didn't get iLife with it. However, I did get iWork for free ( I'm able to download it in AppStore for free). Can someone explain me why iLife is not free for me?

I also have iMac (2009), and there I had iLife installed on it from beginning, and I can also download iWork for free from AppStore.

Also, from iPhone 5S that I have, I can download iPhoto for free.

I'm using same account for all stores.

As I said earlier, all new machines that ship with Mavericks include iLife and iWork apps.

Your machine purchase was prior to the Mavericks release so it shipped with Mountain Lion. I don't know how you got the iWork apps at no charge and were able to upgrade them.

I guess someone at Best Buy installed the wrong software on your machine. They gave you iWork ($45) but left off iLife (also $45).

The math says it's a wash. You could complain at Best Buy or spend the $45 for the apps you should have gotten for free.
