syncing a 1st-generation itouch

I have a first generation itouch that hasnt been updated for years, maybe in 2010. I fell prey to warning about lost of function with updating to a new OS, and never got around to checking it out. I just want to know if I can still do it. Mostly used for music anyway. What do you think?
