When I click on stamp icon I get nothing

Question

When I click on stamp icon I get nothing

Was having problems getting mail through my ISP, Lumos Networks. Now I cannot get anything when I click on the Stamp Icon. What do I do now?

What happens if you try to launch Mail directly from the Applications folder, rather than using the icon on the Dock? Any difference?

Like so many other strange happenings this problem just fixed itself. I'm always flabbergasted at how the computer can change over night. The latest is the fact that the "Quite Safari" button is not working now. Never had anything like this. Things seem to have gone down hill since I mistakenly took on the Mavericks mess.
