clearing "other"/mystery app???

Hi,

My iPhone has nearly 6 gigs of "other" so I'm about to do a restore to clear it but I have two questions.

1. The capacity bar in iTunes is showing that the iPhone has 1 app remaining after I have removed all the apps (save the pre-installed ones). Should the indicator show no apps at all (even the basic ones) or is this normal?

2. I don't want to install iOS 7 on this iPhone. Will a factory restore put the iOS back to 4 or just remove content and leave iOS 6 in place?

A factory restore, or even a restore from backup, will install iOS 7.

No - restoring from a back up will install whatever version of iOS was in use at the time of the back up.
