How to configure airport if i dont have DHCP auto to get a correct ip address?

Do you have a specific Static IP address that the AirPort Express must use to connect to the network?
im using a mac os x 11.4.11
i cant enable airport. when i click the icon it says: no configuration and the only option is open network preferences
in the network preferences is check automatic but everything else is blank
how can i restore default?
or how can i restore the ibook to fabric default?
