How to completely delete/reinstall Logic Pro X?

Hi,

I believe I'm having some bugs (apart from the one in the thread I posted earlier) and if I am unable to fix them I am considering completely uninstalling and reinstalling Logic Pro X and its additional content. Is there an easy way to do so? If not, could someone let me know all of the files I need to delete manually?

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Deleting Logic is fairly straightfoward:

1. In the Finder, choose Applications from the Go menu.

2. Locate the Logic Pro X application and drag it to the trash.

3. Open the Mac App Store

4. Click the Purchases button in the Mac App Store toolbar.

5. Sign in to the Mac App Store using the Apple ID you first used to purchase Logic Pro X.

6. Look for Logic Pro X in the list of purchased applications in the App Store. If you don't see Logic Pro X in the list, make sure it's not hidden.

7. Click Install to download and install Logic Pro X.

Just to be safe, it might be a good idea to also delete all of your logic preferences:

1. In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.

2. Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.

3. Press the Go button.

4. Remove all of the preferences that contain the word "logic" by dragging them to the trash.

5. Restart the computer.

This should do the trick.

I'm convinced that reinstalling (and first deinstalling) sound content will not help at all, and I think that reinstalling Logic itself only helps in less than 1% of cases, for instance if disk has bad sectors and parts of Logic resides on one or more of those bad sectors - reinstalling could put Logic on a different part of the disk, avoiding the aforementioned corrupted sectors, and it may seem like things have been 'fixed', when they only have been moved. So checking the disk with diagnostic and repair utilities should be attempted first imho.

Erik,

I couldnt agree more..

Its incredibly rare that uninstalling and reinstalling everything connected with LPX.. fixes anything. Sometimes starting from scratch by reformatting and then installing OS X and then LPX can fix a few things.. especially when someone has used TM or MA to move data from one Mac to another.. but apart from that... its pretty rare.
