Compressed a file (55 minutes in ProREs 422) to both Vimeo and DVD MPEG 2. The DVD file freezes Quicktime after it is done. THe first try it took 32 minutes, but the second time it only took 4 minutes. The file has the wrong length (shows 1:58:00) and won't play. Passed it through MPEG Streamclip and it had no audio. The processing time was much improved over version 3, but the fail on this format of export isn't good. The Vimeo file works fine. Is this common?

IDVD doesn't have a way to Not encde the file. And it doesn't work with m2v files. For highest quality use the Pro Res file.

How are you planning to make the physical DVD?

The DVD preset produces separate (elementary) streams of video and audio, which are intended to be muxed in an authoring program like DVD Studio Pro…that is, unless you have Compressor create the disk for you. You it would not have had sound when you brought it into Streamclip.

I would clear the batch and start a new one from scratch with just the DVD folder of presets.

Just planning to use iDVD. It only created one file. About 2.8gb. I'm using the vimeo format file and it seems to be working fine. Of more concern was the way it hung both the current and version 7 of Quicktime, and it showed a run time more than double the right length.

If you're using iDVD, skip Compressor. Take your Pro Res file and bring that directly into iDVD. If it is 16:9 with square pixels, iDVD will handle it correctly in resizing it.

Thought it would process faster if I did the compression outside of iDVD. The vimeo version of the file is working fine in iDVD.

Still concerned about the bad file format that compressor created.

Good to know about m2v files. Haven't had a chance to test file again.
