May 29, 2014 12:51 AM in response to peter aagaardby andrew165,I'm definitley hoping it stick around this time. Avengers did play in 5.1 before it all stopped working, I'll have to check when I get home if it still is. I'm in the UK though so not sure if that makes any diference?
Just need to sort out the lip sync issues now!

May 29, 2014 2:08 AM in response to andrew165by webstereo,I'm pleased to hear it's working. Apparently Apple "redistributes" the content for Apple TV in order to make it a seamless experience which is why generally, on Apple TV, it's the best way to see Netflix. IMO.

May 29, 2014 5:32 AM in response to peter aagaardby Belo83,I'm not in front of my tv right now but as far as selecting "audio option", it's not a selectable feature, just informative. And I appologize if this isn't an option on at3. I haven't used my atv in quite some time because of the dolby issue, and instead use my smart tv to stream netflix. It's an option on my tv to "view audio info". I guess i figured it was somewhere in atv too so I appologize.
For example. On my tv I can launch my vizio netflix app. I can browse and select movies. For each title I can select an option to view audio info. Here it will tell me if netflix is offering this movie in HD, superHD, subtitle options and what the audio source is. It was here that I noticed some newer movies are only available in stereo, however it appears most are DD. This is where I also discovered atv wasn't streaming DD and then I found this thread.
So my only point was, that when testing to see if DD has been fixed, try and make sure you have it selected in your atv settings menu and see if you can verify the source is indeed streamed in DD. Sorry for the confustion.

May 30, 2014 4:32 PM in response to peter aagaardby MattiasWidell,Noticed now that the Dolby Digitalicon is back on Netflix atleast on Hanibal and The Killing :-)

May 30, 2014 7:16 PM in response to MattiasWidellby JMichaelTX,I also am now seeing the Dolby Digital icon/logo on all movies that provide it.
I did see it on The Killing, but not on Hannibal, which did NOT output DD.
The DD icon is showing up on:
- House of Cards (Season 2)
- Black Hawk Down
- The Killing
- Company of Heros
- Stranded
just to name a few.
I am very surprised to NOT find the icon, nor the DD sound output for some movies with a great soundtrack like Emperor, Sum of All Fears, and, as I said, Hannibal.
I would love to know the process Netflix is going through to make DD available on HD movies. Should ALL HD movies have DD? Does Netflix have to reprocess the movie stream in some way to reconnect DD to the video?

May 31, 2014 3:37 PM in response to MattiasWidellby lkrupp,Consider that we really don't know what went on between Apple and Netflix. We do know that Apple's devices support video in specific formats. I don't know if other devices (Roku, Xbox, etc.) require different formats. So it is quite possible that Netflix has to encode video in several formats in order to support all the devices it runs on. Therefore some films that come with DD 5.1 on one device may not do so on another. Netflix may be in the process of encoding more films to include DD 5.1 for the Apple TV. It's also quite possible that some films released to Netflix for presentation never had DD 5.1 in the first place, like older movies.

May 31, 2014 4:04 PM in response to lkruppby matiasnavarro,There's a BUNCH of Netflix titles labeled as DD in ATV 3 that doesnot play in DD 5.1, as an example MIAMI VICE(2006 Colin Farell version), THE PILL, RED EYE, THE NOTEBOOK and many more WHILE all of them reproduces DD 5.1 in my LG Smart TV and in my SONY Smart Bluray, they someone is not playing nice with us :-(

matiasnavarro, I can NOT confirm your assertion.
Neither Maimi Vice nor The Pill display the DD icon in the Netflix app on Apple TV. So, of course, I would NOT expect these movies to be streamed in DD on Apple TV.
Netfix has stated that as they have updated movies/shows to output DD on Apple TV, they will display the DD icon on Netfix/Apple TV.
So far, I have found this to be 100% accurate.
If you, or anyone, find a Netfilx movie on Apple TV that shows the DD icon, but does NOT output DD, then I would strongy suggest that you file a complaint with Netflix.
My understanding is that Netflix is in the process of updating all of its movies/shows available on Apple TV to provide DD, and so indicate with the DD icon, for those movies/shows that actually have DD available.
Some patience is required here.
