Can I remove my sons iPod off my account and start him an account?

My son originally got an iPod. We used my email address. Since then I have gotten an iPhone. I didn't mind but now I have an iPad mini and anything he downloads or I download goes to each other's device. So it's time to give him his own account. He has an email address now. How do I remove his device from my account and set his own account up?

iPod touch, iOS 7.1

If new purchases are automatically downloading on the other devices then do you/he currently have automatic downloads turned 'on' on them : Settings > iTunes & App Store ?

There are instructions on this page for creating a new account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2731

Or if you don't want to give credit card details use the instructions on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534

You can then log out of your account on his iPod by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and log in with that new account.

All of his exising downloads will remain tied to your account, so only your account will be able to download updates to those apps. Also, if he wants to redownload a past purchase from an account then he might tie his iPod to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 - so he won't be able to use automatic downloads or redownload past purchases on the other account until the 90 days have completed
