Can I purchase in-app extras (ex. angry bird eagle, sims freeplay simoleons) with my iTunes Gift Card?

I would like to buy simoleons from the Sims Freeplay in-app store (uh huh, I play sims). But, I don't have a credit card on the account so I don't know if I can actually go ahead and buy the simoleons! Please help.
