Can iPad get viruses or what's happened to it?

My iPad mini keeps showing a black screen then the apple logo then back to the black screen without ever opening up the home page. Can iPad get viruses or what's happened to it?

Step by step troubleshooting:

1. Reset

Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down togther until you see the Apple logo

2. Restore:

You don't need antivirus or security software as long as you don't Jailbreak your iPad.

Currently there's no known virus affecting iPad.

No. An iPad can't get a virus
