I have a new 1T ext drive connected to my late 2011 MBP via the thunderbolt port for editing in fcpx, and now realize there's nowhere to plug in the ext monitor. Is there a thunderbolt splitter, or some other solution? thanks

You could use a Thunderbolt display. Connect the display to the computer and the disk drive to the port on the back of the display,
thanks. but to say that apple's only solution to a 3 year old problem is to buy thier $1000 display to replace the one i have which works perfectly for it's application is an unacceptable solution would be a great understatement.
and i'm reading that the belkin hub doesnt work reliably with all units.
