Q: OS X 10.9.2 problems

So I installed the new OS X 10.9.2 update and was prompted for a restart. Upon restarting a progress bar appears. When this bar completes my computer shuts down. And the process repeats every time I start my machine.

I could not find any help online so I am trying to restore from time machine to OS X 10.9.1

Any suggestions ?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

    Sorry, I'm not sure what you're asking for:

    Do you want suggestions for how to get your Mac to restart after the 10.9.2 update?

    Or are you looking for suggestions for how to restore from your time machine 10.9.1 backup?

    (You get many extra points for actually having a backup, BTW, which nobody ever seems to have when they write into this forum).

    In terms of restarting after the 10.9.2 update, try restarting in safe mode: restart and hold down shift until you see the apple logo. You may have some third-party software that is incompatible with 10.9.2.

    @arthur -

    1 - BACKING UP - Thanks for those points. yeah its **** good practice to back up every now and then. So i highly recommend everyone to do the same, especially cause its super hassle free.

    coming to my issue

    2.1 - ISSUE of SHUTTING DOWN - my computer wont start post the update. everytime it starts, it shows a progress bar and then shuts down. i did not try booting in safe mode. But i did try the recovery mode (of course thats where i restored my 10.9.1 from)

    2.2 - so i am going to update the system again in couple of days and reboot in safe mode. but what then? suppose it does start in safe mode what post that? cause....

    3 - DISK UTILITY - @arthur and Eric - i did use disk utility to verufy my drive, when i booted from recovery and it throws up "all good"!

    So to iterate my query, assuming it does boot from safe mode then what next?

    thanks for the help guys, really appreciate it. this is the first time i am seeking help on support communities and am quite excited with the promptness of responces.

    Sometimes just booting in the Safe Mode will fix things because it reset caches, forces a directory check and other 'repairs'. It also doesn't load 3rd party add-ons, which if the Safe Mode is successful, may indicate a 3rd party application is interfering with the system operation.
