Q: Displayport on old iMac

Is it possible to connect a MacBook Pro with thunderbolt bus to an old iMac with the older type of DisplayPort (i.e. somewhat larger DisplayPort than the newer MiniDisplayPort that fits the later iMacs and macbooks)? I would like to use the older iMac as a monitor for my laptop.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Thanks. My iMac is not on the TDM list, so I would need ScreenRecycler.

Unfortunately, my MacBook Pro (or rather Apple) does not allow ScreenRecycler to be installed. So end of exercise.
