Only the devices listed in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647 are supported by iOS Bluetooth...the iMac is not supported.

What devices are you trying to connect to it. the iPad has limited BT profiles.

It won't pair with computers or other cell phones outside of Internet sharing.

No file transfer over bluetooth either if that's what you are trying to accomplish.
