I have downloaded my audiobook to iPhone but it will not play the "Play" symbol keeps changing to the stop symbol?

I have downloaded an audiobook to my iPhone, but when I press 'Play' it changes straight back to 'Stop' Why? How do i get to listen to the book. it plays on my iPad fine.
