What are the specs of your computer?

Go to Apple symbol top left and hold down option. Click on System Information and post the specs back here.

    Thank you, Pete...

I think my memory is the issue... I am starting to realize that I purchased my macbook in 2008, not 2009 which may be why it is no compatible.

Your memory is fine, but your model Macbook is the last one that was not compatable with Mavericks (and Mountain Lion) You would need a MacBook 5,1. The latest OSX you can install is Lion 10.7.5

What luck! Lol....That is what I was thinking.. This is frustrating.
    Thank you very much.

I CAN run 10.7.5?!  This is great news actaully and eliminates the issue I was having with specific software compatibility!

You will need to contact Apple Support in your country and purchase Lion 10.7.5 and they will email you a link to download from. Just a hint. When your copy of Lion downloads to your Applications folder, BEFORE you install it, make a copy onto an External HardDrive or USB stick. Apple OSX Download Installs 'self-destruct' or dissapear, if you prefer, after they have been installed.

    Good luck with it all
