It says this everytime I try to download the new content:

Your computer must be connected to the Internet in order to download the GarageBand sound library. Check your network connection and try again. What can I do to fix this problem?

its happening with me also after todays content update, its endless loop trying to download all the time and even after it downloaded during install part in the middle says cannot download your not connected to the internet.

How this possible during install part if the content was already downloaded.

Apple please do something , every time i open GB its downloading over and over

Arrgghh ! This is very frustrating !!

I tried at least 5 or 6 times unsucessfully to update the content tonight.


Luckily I was able to transfer what I was working on into Logic and continue on, but I did get some errors in Logic about missing drum samples, and had to use an AU drum machine plug-in to finish what I was doing.


The GB install seems to start over from scratch each time, I must have had about 40 or 50 Gigs of unsucessfully downloaded data wasted tonight.

I feel sorry for folks with a data cap, stuff like this would push their bill through the roof.


Watching the "audiocontentdownload.apple.com" folder thats hiddden in "/private/var/folders/" I can see that the Garageband updater downloads "GarageBandPremiumContent.pkg " and 3 or 4 "StereoDrumKits***.pkg" files.


The download always seems to choke on either the "StereoDrumKitsRock.pkg" or "StereoDrumKitsR&B.pkg" files. I even tried booting into safe mode, but the download still failed about 5 minutes in.


It would be nice if we could get a direct download link to the content update rather than relying on Garageband's internal update mechanisim.


I was able to pull the urls from the individual ""***pkg.resumeData" files in the "audiocontentdownload.apple.com" folder and download all the update packages to my hard drive directly, but only a couple would launch and install, the last 2 files gave an error about waiting for other files to download so they must be linked somehow to GB's internal update mechanisim., and have to be installed in some sort of sequence.


I've wasted way too much time on this, hopefully things will get sorted on the other end and I will try again tomorrow.

Same issue here, happened yesterday. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling numerous times.


Before anyone suggests to check my internet connection: Yes, my internet connection is fine & more than adequate. I've tried again at 4am my time and same issue. Sometimes it downloads completely then goes to the installing window and then the prompt to login to appstore comes up and the error follows shortly after.

Now I have a whole new issue, it finally downloaded and installed but the new content is not there.

It installs but when I click on what would be the new item it shows the download icon and makes me download it again. It constantly does this regardless of how many times I install it.

It looks like one part of the download cannot be installed correctly. For me, the installer finished after the third try, but one of the drummers did not install:

The drum kit "Manchester" is still grayed out, and when I select it, it will activate the download of the in-app purchase all over again. Everything will install, but "Manchester".

I don't get any of the new drummers or kits at all, it installs but the content is never actually installed. I've exhausted all the options I can think of from deleting everything and reinstalling fresh to trying to locate the downloaded package (which I can never find).

The same issue here. I cannot "restore" the old content or add the new content (I had an HD error in January, so I had to reinstall everything from the scratch, unfortunately my Time Machine update was also broken..).

I get the same message that my internet is NOT connected. I tested it with an Linux PC, by tracing the connection, everything's fine, inet is always up on my side.


Apple support claims that they cannot do anything unless I pay for support. Any ideas what it might be... I mean somebody tried to figure out where the files are and deleted them along with Garageband and started from sratch?
