can i connect ipod shuffle 4th generation to a ihome docking station

Not to the "dock" since a shuffle does not have a separate dock connector (or Lightning connector). If the docking station is a speaker system, and it has an auxiliary audio input port, you can connect the shuffle's audio output (from the headphones jack) to that audio input using something like this
