Q: Recently bought a macbook air and the camera doesnt work

Its super frustrating.

It did work once with skype, but after i tried using photobooth it stopped working completely and now it doesnt work on skype, googlehangouts and neither, of course, on photobooth. The computer is quite new and i attempted using the camera only a few times.

Any idea on what this might be?

Maybe something with updates?

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

try resetting the SMC http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964. Read this too: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090

It is updated with version 10.9.2, might that be the problem?

I had already tested it in many ways, diff applications, users, etc.

Now that I have reset the SMC the camera is not even being regognized anymore (it was, before that, most of the times the green light next to it would go on for one second and then go off)

iSight camera failure after OS X 10.9 Mavericks update might resolve your trouble.

If not, contact the retailer who sold you the new Mac ASAP. It may need replacement or repair.

If you bought directly from Apple on-line, you can Contact Apple's MacBook Air Support or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.
