Q: how to deinterlace video in Final Cut Express

I have tried everything tthing that I can think of but my exported ideo still has those awful scan lines in motion clips. I am in DESPERATION MODE because my video projects are due for release today. Please help!

    Hello CruzMejias,

     

    if you use Export>Quicktime Movie, you have no control over interlacing.

     

    If you export Using Quicktime Compression, you do have control. Click on Options, and then Size.  There, you will see a checkbox for deinterlacing.  Make sure the other settings are what you want as well.

    How are you viewing your exported clips? Computer monitors do not display interlaced footage correctly. Interlace material is/was designed to be displayed on TV monitors.

     

    If you are viewing the files on your computer, you should be viewing your exported files in QuickTime Pro 7. In QuickTime Pro, go to the preferences and check on "Use high-quality video settings when available".
