Calls,rings, even keystroke volume is much too loud on bluetooth! What am I doing wrong????

Too loud!!! Please help, before I loose my hearing and sanity. My bluetooth connection with iPhone 5s is too loud on calls, ringing, even keystrokes are way too loud. I've purchased 3 new bluetooths, from different manufacturers, and it doesn't help at all so I think it's the phone. Music is fine. I have set the control volume on and off button control, no change..What can I do? I can hold the bluetooth 4 ft from my ear and it's still too loud even on it's lowest setting. What am I doing wrong??
