Ebay Selling OS 10.4

Well,

I thought I would save some money, so off to Ebay to but 10.4. I havve a G4 and this guy was selling software (new) that came with a G5.

The discs arrived, new and it said "Power Mac G5" on the disk. Believeing it is generic to all Macs, I tried the Install on my G4? Well, it kept giving e the "Alert: it would not install on my computer.

It seems I sustained a "ripp-off" from the ebal seller?

Anyone agree or am I just doing something wrong?

Hi cfe,

Welcome to Discussions.

Bundles OS and software for a specific system is unlikely to be installable on another type of system. If you buy OS x or software in a standalone package, it can be installed anywhere. Bundles software installs only on the system (type) it came with.

I don't know that you got ripped off. Perhaps the seller also didn't understand this...
