Q: why does safari cancel restart

I need to install update but safari cancels the restart..any idea why or how to restart it? This has never happened before...

iMac, iOS 7.1

Which update, for what device, are you using Safari to obtain & install?
The file may have gotten corrupted or interrupted during download.

Could you use a different browser to get it?

IS the computer involved running a vintage OS X 10.5.8 or Earlier,
and is the model a PowerPC based Mac from 2005 or before?

The tagline iMac, iOS7.1 says nothing,
because iOS is for a device, not a Mac.
