How can I use an ATT iPad air on Verizon Network?

I have a new iPad Air with cellular ATT. My carrier is Verizon. How can I get it to work on the Verizon network? ATT will not unlock the phone.

I acquired this iPad Air from the Diners Club Rewards Program. They sent me the wrong device and are refusing to exchange it.

Thank you,

Completely wrong. There is only one iPad Air model in the US and it will work on AT&T, T-Mobile AND Verizon.

The only problem with buying an AT&T air is that it will be hard to activate it on Verizon because the MEID # will not be in their system. You can take an already activated sim and place it in the iPad and it will work. I did this with my AT&T air a few I months back.

If the OP can get someone to activate a sim on a Verizon iPad! he could then use it in his AT&T iPad.

For this reason, it reccomended that one buy the VerizonAAir and that way you can have no probelm activating it on Verizon or AT&T.

I would do that. Use the proceeds to then buy a Verizon iPad air. The iPad Air and Retina Mini are completely unlocked and can be used on any network, even Verizon as long as the network uses sim cards. As I mentioned above, only the Verizon iPad can be activated on. Verizon because the iPads information will be loaded in. Verizon's system whereas the AT&T iPad will not be even though there is no difference in the iPads.

I had to quit using. Verizon on my AT&T iPad because I can't get Verizon or AT&T at my house, only T-Mobile.

I am typing this on my iPad and this website does weird things to the AT&T word.

Sort of the same issue with some good news: I bought an T-Mobile Ipad mini (2nd Gen/Retina). I decided T-Mobile's coverage is insufficient in my area for the device to be usable, so I want to put it on my Verizon "share everything" plan. According to http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2426795,00.asp, it should work.

To confirm, I took the "nano" sim card from my Iphone 5S and put it in the Ipad. WORKED GREAT! So we know it can be done. But, no one at Verizon (call center or local store) knows HOW to activate it. And they wouldn't give me a sim card to try. So I just ordered the sim card from Ebay and will try it out. Maybe they'll let me activate it in the Iphone and move it over. According to a post on MacRumors Forums, by giving the Verizon person "the ICCID number from the Ipad menus," they were able to get it to work. We shall see.

By the way, the Ipad box says, "Supports: CDMA, GSM, UMTS, and LTE celluar technologoies." So, again, ALL NEW IPADS AND IPHONE 5S's (not 5C) will work on ALL major networks, period. (Those of you who have older Apple devices, quit telling people they aren't unlocked...they ARE!)

But clearly, this doesn't mean the reps at your particular carrier know HOW to activate it. Duh.

The Verizon devices only use the nanoSIM for connection to their LTE network. If you happen to be in an area that only has EVDO service that is under CDMA and if you have not had Verizon activate it then it will cease to have cell data. Verizon's policy is they will not activate carry in devices on their CDMA network and if your iPad has an MEID it certainly will not be in Verizon's database so you would have to figure out a way to get the number entered.

It is far easier to use a Verizon model iPad on GSM networks, just insert and active and compatible nanoSIM from the GSM provider.
