I can't connect my Suzuki GP-7 Digital Baby Grand Piano to my Macbook Pro. Help, please.

Didn't really pay attention to the fact that my Digital Piano had a USB Port to connect to laptops till just recently. (Bought the Piano back in '06).

Just opened up the USB Cable that came along with it and connected one end to the laptop and the other to my Macbook. It doesn't show up on my Macbook. I tried looking up software for the Piano on the Suzuki website to avail. Not sure what's going wrong, on my Piano I set the USB Port to ON.

My goal is to set up my piano w/Garage Band, but it doesn't even show up when connected on the Audio MIDI Setup (Found in Launchpad).

Could it be the USB Cable itself that's the issue? Not really sure what the issue is right now.

Have you looked at the user manual:

I'm no expert on MIDI or digital pianos, but I note that, on page 16, where it shows the connections, it says that:

"The USB connector allows you to connect the piano directly to your computer, so that you can update your pianos software if necessary. Use the MIDI connectors for all other home computer applications."

So it appears that the USB is for this very limited purpose and that you need the MIDI in/out link for GarageBand and other computer applications to work with your piano.

Though this thread is for a different Suzuki piano, it may be relevant too:
