In new iOS how do you disable both screen location lock and mute on iPad at the same time. This is doing my nut in. It seems an either or situation
Use the little bell in Control Center to disable mute.
Use the Side Switch to disable rotation lock.
One function is controlled via the switch on the right-hand side of the iPad above the volume control (what you've selected in Settings > General > Use Side Switch To), the other fucntion is controlled via control centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the iPad's screen and it's the rightmost of the 5 central 5 icons.
So if you want both mute and rotation lock off, then make sure that the switch on the side of the iPad is 'off', and that the right-most of the central 5 icons in control center is grey (if it's white then it's 'on')
Set Side Switch to Lock Rotation.
Thanks all I 'd forgotten about slide switch next to the rocker switch that I use for volume. Derrr
Another way to mute is to hold down the lower volume switch till the sound effects icon on the screen says mute.
