Moving widgets into the Dock

I am using OSX 10.5.8 and would like to add the gmail widget (blue stamp design with a picture of a queen on it) to my bottom dock.

Does anyone know how to do this?

It appears on the screen when I right click my mouse (along with other widgets), but I can't drag it down to the dock. It will move, but just sits on top of the dock and doesn't 'squeeze' itself in.

Thank you for your help. It would just make it easier to see, if it was in the dock, visible all the time.

Dear BD,

Hi. Thank you again for your help.

I tried it, but I couldn't find any mail widgets in my Applications section on the HD.

I have the gmail widget (stamp with a picture of a queen on it) on the screen (perhaps this is called the Dashboard - it only appears when I right click my mouse and includes other widgets like weather, conversions, etc.), but can't drag it into the Dock. There must be a simple way. On my Dock, I already have Finder, Mail, Safari, ITunes, Address Book, I-Cal, IPhoto, etc. and just want to add the gmail widget, so that I can always see whether or not a new mail has come in, like I can with the other Mac Mail widget (stamp with a bird on it).

Best regards,

Susan

Thanks BD.

I looked up my Library folder and in the Widgets section, there was no mail widget. All I have is:

Address Book

Business

Calculator

Dictionary

ESPN

Flight Tracker

Google

iCal.wdgt

iTunes

Movies

People

Ski Report

Stickies

Stocks

Tile Game

Translation

Unit Converter

Weather

Web Clip

World Clock

Is there any way that I can add the gmail widget to my Library and then drag it out from there? Probably a stupid thought.

Sorry to bother you on your weekend.

Best regards,

Susan

Dear BD,

Thanks for your suggestions. I searched for a widget on various download sites, but the problem is finding a widget which will move into the Dock. There are quite a few widgets out there, but apparently no G-MAIL widgets which will move into the Dock. Many widgets will only appear on the Dashboard.

As I said, the one I downloaded was a blue one in the shape of a stamp, with a photo of a queen on it. Are you able to download it and move it to your Dock? If not, I think I will have to give up on this one. Not a big problem anyway, but it would be convenient.

Thank you for all your help anyway.

Dear BD,

Thank you for your mail. The g-mail widget which I am talking about can be found at the following:

I wanted to use a widget in the Dock, as I could immediately tell whether any g-mail had come in and would not have to check on the dashboard. That is the only reason. Not really a problem, just convenient.

I like MailTab Pro for Gmail. It sits in the Menu bar and turns red when I receive an email. Easy to click on icon to view your messages. It's $1.99
