Q: Find My... Huh?

My iTouch can locate my Powerbook but the iTouch does not show up as a device on my Powerbook.  What could the issue be?  (Since I am far more likely to misplace the Touch, this is bothersome.)

Was your iPod Touch turned on and connected to wifi when you tried to locate it?

In addition to having the Find my iPhone app installed, do you have Find my iPod turned on under Settings > iCloud?

P.S. A PowerBook is too old to use Find my Mac... did you mean MacBook?

Yup...  I had the iTouch in my hand, with it showing the Powerbook's location on my screen, and the Powerbook showing just itself on its screen.  So they both have my .me address.  I recently removed my old iTouch from the cloud when its screen died and after I did a factory reset.  I then restored to a different touch.  I don't know if that is confusing the issue, but I am not seeing anywhere to address that.

Try turning Find My iPod off, then back on.  Also be sure the location isn't hiding behind the location dot for your Mac on the Mac in the All Devices view.

MacBook Pro (inherited from my sister several years ago...)

Okay fellows, I went to work and came home.  The MacBook now knows I have a device (the iTouch) but says it is offline.  I have turned Find My... off and on on the iTouch.  THe iTouch is currently seeing the home WiFi as the MacBook.  It sees itself as offline but see the MacBook.  I think it has a disassociative disorder!  <G>  Would renaming the device do anything?  (Don't know why it should matter, but out of ideas.)
