Q: FCE4: Reinstall causes error message. Codec not found...

I had to uninstall FCE4 due to some wonky behavior (pixelating during last 15 min. of video all of a sudden). When I reinstalled it, I get the error message "codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card.".

I had deleted the Apple Intermediate Codec when I uninstalled the program (according to Tom Wolsky's directions). I tried to "move it" back (using the one from Time Machine), but that isn't working.

How can I reinstall the codec?

Quicktime 10.0 is still on my machine.

When I open FCE4 I get this error and can't do anything more. Getting frustrated!

HELP !

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

AppleIntermediateCodec.component needs to be in the /Library/QuickTime folder.  This is the top-level Library folder, not /System/Library or ~/Library.  Is this where you are copying the component to?

I also suspect it may be necessary to restart your Mac after you copy AppleIntermediateCodec.component to this folder.  Have you restarted your Mac?
