Hi, I have a Macbook and I formatted an external HD to use with it. How do I use that HD as my main HD instead of my internal one? My internal HD only has 250 GB, and the external is 2 TB. It's a WD My Passport, just a straight-up USB connected one. Would I have to delete everything off of the startup disc and just put it over their manually, or is there a way to just make the external one the default HD for my computer?

Put an OS onto it; this can be done either by installing a fresh one or cloning an existing one with a product such as the Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, or SuperDuper. If you cloned a system, select that drive in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.

Okay, so I'm doing it through Disk Ultility and the way I read it is to basically dump everything from the internal HD into the new one. The Source is the old one and the desinantion the new one. Would that put the OS onto the HD and solve my problem?
Yes, it would. Test the new drive before deleting anything from the internal one, and keep a backup on a second external drive.
