I never had a me.com account, but my Mac keeps me asking for a password.

Recently, a pop up box had appeared on my screen asking for a password to log me into my iCloud. Strangely, it is a me.com address, which I've never had! My iCloud is setup under my gmail account and I have no problems loging into iTunes. But my iMac doesn't reconize that password. What's going on?

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Hello AndersonDePaiva,

It sounds like you are being prompted for a password to an @me.com address that you do not recognize. I recommend signing in at http://appleid.apple.com. There you can see your Apple ID email address, as well as any alternate email addresses such as the free @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com that you get depending on the creation date of your Apple ID. If you see the @me.com address, then the password for the prompt on your computer is the same as the password for your @gmail.com account.

If not, then use the following link to try finding an old forgotten Apple ID:
