Symptoms
This article provides troubleshooting steps for Mail issues you may encounter while using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Resolution
Try these basic troubleshooting steps first
- Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage (try any webpage). If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you are unable to load a webpage, follow these troubleshooting steps.
- Try to use an alternate Internet connection if available:
- Try a different Wi-Fi connection
- If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
- If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*
- Try to use an alternate Internet connection if available:
- Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
- Restart your iOS device.
- Delete the affected email account from your device.
- Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
- Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
- Add your account again.
Specific issues
Alert: "Cannot get mail"
- This issue is often caused by an incorrect password. Be sure you have entered the correct password. If you have enabled two-step verification through your e-mail service provider, please contact them to see if you need a special password for your iOS device.
Alert: "Unable to Move Message"
- Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar, then choose the affected email.
- Tap Account.
- Tap Advanced.
- Tap Deleted Mailbox and ensure it is set to Trash.
- After you have made your changes, tap Advanced > Account, then tap Done.
- Note: If your issue is still unresolved, repeat steps 1 through 3 and then tap IMAP Path Prefix, then Inbox. When complete, tap Account, then Done.
Alert: "MFMessageErrorDomain error 1032"
- To resolve this issue, remove your email account and then add it again. To do so, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar.
- Choose the affected email account.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Add your account again.
