I have Windows 7. I backed up to my computer instead of the cloud, but, iTunes shows that I have never backed up the iPhone to this computer. ?? The MobileSync directory has what looks like a valid backup folder, with over 5GB of Apple's proprietary can't tell what they are files.
So, why can't iTunes show that I have backed up to this computer?

I found the solution to many of my bizarre problems in syncing. I removed the USB drive that was configured as a Windows ReadyBoost drive and that fixed everything. Amazing 😁
