When is apple expected to update mavericks to fix mail??? Getting fed up with mail not working.. Went into apple and they blamed gmail.. now i find out its mavericks not gmail.. Very unhappy..... I got rid of my iphone due to too many issues..... im star5ting to feel the same with my mac pro.

ive only put 1 account on.. and i followed the instructions which it automatically does... i only put my email and password
I am not into guessing games, post the settings (in a screenshot) and we'll see if they are correct.
Also.
If you and your husband are sharing the same Mac open Contacts (Address Book) and check whether your husbands card or yours is set as 'My Card'

Did you delete the old SMTP servers or just leave them there?
(leaving them there would be the wrong choice)
not sure how to do screen shots on mac pro or what info you need.. can you explain... also since being to apple my husband stuff is not on this mac at all... just my stuff.. also when apple took the comp they deleted the whole comp... basically a brand new mac

Shift Command 4 allows you to take a screenshot, the little camera in the toolbar allows you to insert it here. Don't copy and paste, it won't work.

Open Mail, go to Preferences>Accounts.
Scroll down to the entry marked Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) click the dialog and it will open to reveal a menu, choose 'Edit SMTP Servers.
When it opens you will see this (but probably with more than one server, I like to keep mine tidy)
Take a screenshot of the list, post it here, post both tabs (Account Information and advanced)

And I assume that you the email address I see is yours?
yes, its the only one on the computer at the moment..
Then let's back up a stage.
Go to www.gmail.com and verify that the mail you see on their website is the same as the mail you see in Mail.
it is... but takes a little bit to get to mail... the files that cant be deleted i cant see on gmail
Then I fail to understand your problem, Mail is working normally and is in sync with the Gmail server.
I can only assume that you have OS X issues and I suggest that you reinstall (first) 10.9.2, but use the Combo updater rather than software update. If that fails it is time to erase and reinstall OSX, that will need a full and up to date backup.
Or you could be sensible and get rid of Gmail and its non compliant Imap protocol.
comp has already been wipped and restarted.. .also gmail doesnt have the emails i cant delete from mail... i love gmail.... had it for over 10 years... never had a problem until i installed mavericks
Then reinstall OS X, clean and correct.
Or restore the backup you made before you upgraded.

There is always a point in time when a problem starts, drawing conclusions from that is unwise. Find out what is wrong, don't assume.
And even though Gmail works for you it is a mediocre system designed to make your information available to Google so they can sell it to others for their own income.
