Connecting using a Zyxel P-334WT router

Hey peeps,

i have recently bought a Zyxel P-334WT wireless router and cannot get online with it. It is also plugged into my girl friends pc and that is working fine. When i try and log on it just says that there is no connection. Even thought i am already online with the pc and it has plently of signal for the wireless connection!

So i am very confused.

Any help or a push in the right direction would be great.

Also my computer knowledge is very limited, sorry.

frenchy070, Welcome to the discussion area!

It appears that this device has a non-standard "g+ SuperSpeed technology" feature. That feature may need to be disabled.

Can you see the network name in the AirPort menu?

If so, when you select the network name what happens? Do you get a dialog box? What does the dialog box say?

Hey there.

I can see the name of the network in the box and i click on it. Then nothing happens. I also tried going to 'other' and trying to set up the network that way, but i just cannot get it to work. I just looked in the Internet connect summary box and it says my laptop is connected to the network, but i can't open use the net yet!

How would i disable the G+ Superspeed feature?

So it appears that you are connected to the wireless network.

Check the IP address. Does it start with 169? If so, your Mac can't properly connect to the DHCP server on the router.

...but i can't open use the net yet!

How do you know that? What did you try to do? What error message did you get?

I have the Ip address and it does start with 169.

I also tried to open Safari and that told me that i wasn't connected. So now i have opened my network box. What do i need to fill in in there? Or do i not need to?

Does the Zyxel have the access control list (MAC access control) feature enabled? If so, you need to add the MAC address of the AirPort interface of your Mac to that list.

I have to be honest and say that i can't seem to open any thing to with the router. I am having a nightmare with that. It says i need to web configure the actual router, but i cant seem to be able to do anything that it wants me to do. It needs me to put an address into the web brouser, but the address is just numbers and doesn't work!

So the iBook still tells me its longed onto the net, but i can't get online and the Zyxel router and software won't let me set it up.

Any idea's......

Have you tried connecting to the router with Ethernet and then following those directions?

Hey again.

Right i am back. Sorry where do i find out if i can add Mac addresses to this? I can't find anywhere or any options to set up the router. The manual says i need to web configure it, but when i type the web address into the brouser it says that the address is not recognized!

To configure the router you will want to be connected to it via Ethernet.

Ok.
I have the ethernet connected to the router and then into the pc. But how do i get the configure screen up to play with? By the way my normal pc is windows, not apple.

Check the user's guide for the router. Most of them have directions for using a web browser to access the configuration of the router.

Ok.

So now i think there is a problem with the router and not with the laptop as i cannot configure the router at all.

It says i need to do it through the internet but i cannot get it working. I do what the manual says and then nothing happens.

Should i contact Zyxel?
