wins/ workgroup?

I think this is a security issue. WHY is my wins and/or workgroup populated with ANY data? I don't need it and it should be totally blank

on a safe machine, correct?

I've asked the genious folks and they say it should be totally blank but on my machines that I think have some malware issues they are populate with info that I cant' make " go away"

I'm not that techincal so anyone that can provide some clarity would be much appreciated. '
