Q: Using a USB PHONO PLUS and not hearing any sound.

I am using a USB PHONO PLUS to connect turntable to computer. Input set to USB, Output set to speakers.  I know sound is getting into computer as I can 'see' it on ths "sound preferances > input', but am not hearing anything over speakers. Output is set to speakers.  Using Maverick. 

Final Cut Pro X, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
