I guess the 1.0TB drive I bought is BAD. After 2 hours of Zero's in the formatting process it stops with Read Write problems

I guess the NEW 1.0TB drive I bought is BAD. After 2 hours of Zero's in the formatting process it stops with Read Write problems. I tried several other times with different configuations to no avail.

Any suggestions other than returning the drive to the supplier???

Another thing that is odd, the drive shows that it is a 7.3 TB drive. That's not what I ordered, but thought I was getting a bonus without extra charge. WRONG!

thats normal, its called hard drive infant mortality

I had a new one die and crash on me 2 days ago with less than 3 hours use on it.

RETURN IT.

No such thing as a 7TB drive, the largest currently are 6TB.

Its all about redundancy, plain and simple, multiple off-computer copies of your data.

Your profile suggests you are running Tiger, this link looks interesting, fourth post from the last, they found problems with Tiger and 1TB showing as 7.3TB and could not use the drive. Using SL it worked correctly.
