How do I fix my iPod touch 5 gen after repeated crashes after ios 7.1 update?

I updated to ios 7.1 on my iPod touch 5 gen and it repeatedly cycled through apple restored screen, a black screen and a ding for around 12 hours until I could restore my ipod. I restored my ipod again and it happened again. I restored it a third time and got most of my apps on it. It started repeatedly crashing again only this time including flashing the slide screen. When I could use the slide screen I would try to enter my passcode but it would repeat the crashing behavior all over again. I restored my ipod again but haven't put any extra apps on it. I really need help here otherwise it's nothing more than an expensive paper weight. I can't afford to replace it and I'm not sure it's still under best buy warranty.

It's me again, same problem, new ipod.

I updated my iPod Touch 5 gen, March 19, 2014 and my ipod kept cycling through the apple screen and a black screen, that kept going for 12 hours until I could do a complete restore. I have restored that iPod at least 7 times and it would freeze up around the 25 to 30 g area. Then it would cycle through the apple screen, the black screen, the slide screen and once in awhile it would show the lock screen.

My iPod was still under my best buy protection plan so I returned it. Now the new one I have have to restore 3 times and it cycled through the same screens at the approximate area. So I am now trying from an older back up. If that doesn't work then I will try starting with the apps that I'm trying to install when it crashes. If that doesn't work then I'm returning the ipod and starting with a 3rd one.

I have a system of how I restore apps, first I restore everything but the photo and game apps, then the photo apps, and last the game apps. I install around 150 to 230 or so at a time.

Can anyone help me with this? To me ios 7.1 has killed 2 iPods. The first one worked perfectly before the update.

Please help I'm so very frustrated.

The nearest Apple store is over 200 miles away and no car. I live in Washington, IA. Best Buy has an Apple section but I don't know if they could help me. I can't afford to get to Des Moines or pay for the repair service. If the install from backup doesn't work (I'm in the middle of it), then I will install the apps one at a time starting with the ones I tried to install before the crashes. It's a good thing I have a system for installing apps. Hope this all works

This is an update to the problem I've been having. I have restore my new ipod a total of at least 6 times now. I did clean restores and tried a restore from backup. The 3rd to the last restore I started installing apps with iTunes but it wouldn't install most of the apps, then it canceled my sync. I restored and installed the apps through my ipod. Then it got about halfway around the 30g of free space and cycled through the apple screen etc... over and over again. I restored again this time I've done my apps 10 at a time and started with photo apps, then game apps. Now it is at about the 30g mark and starts going to the apple screen but, I'm able to bring it back. I'm thinking I have bad game apps so I uninstall the last 20. I decide to try some book, etc... apps instead but the same thing happens. I have been able to open it up again and it will install the apps again and be fine. Now I decided to put my music on. Get it past that 30g spot. I still have some time to take it back before the 15 days are up. This time I've been able to get it to work but resetting every 10 apps is ridiculous. I have called apple and they think it's al my computer (it had an update trying to download at the time). It's running fine, even iTunes hasn't been to bad. Everytime it's crashed or reset it's been with different groups of apps, so I can't blame it on apps. I live to far away from the Apple store. Any help would be appreciated. Is it normal to reset after it gets so many apps on it?

After 2 iPods and crashing in the same area with different apps, I think so too. Now to convince Apple of that may be another story. I ruled out apps and my computer. I will have to return it to Best Buy before April 8th to exhange it. I was just thumbing through a folder of apps and it went to the Apple screen. I will continue to try installing apps today, hopefully it will work.

Has anyone else had this problem?
