I was able to stream from my macbook pro to my hdtv and now I can't and the only options showing in my display preferences are resolution, gather windows and detect displays and I no longer have the option to mirror display or select my TV for sound output. What happened?

How did you connect it to your TV before - with an HDMI cable? Through Apple TV? Some other way?

Make sure your TV input is set to the correct HDMI port. You may have to unplug the HDMI cable and re-connect for it to recognise - try another cable if you have one spare. I'm guessing you're also using a mini-Displayport to HDMI adaptor, so that may also be a point of failure.

I have tried all of that and you're correct I'm using a mini-Displayport to adaptor si it sounds like a cord is bad huh?
If I select the different hdmi ports with my tv remote and my computer acts like it recognizes the changes so it seems like its communicating. oh well.
