Thank you for your response. This information pops up on the "install wizard" when I attempt to download my printer software. If I select "easy install", which is the standard form of installing the software, nothing happens, which is unusual. So I opt of the 2nd option which is "Software List" (to give you option of the software components that you want only). By choosing this, a window pops up saying exactly these words:
"Because Rosetta is not installed on the Mac OS X being used, you may not be able to install software correctly after this. We recommend installing Rosetta from the Mac OS X package beforehand."
When I first installed my software printer, it was pretty straightforward, and took less than 2 minutes installing it by choosing the "easy install". The CD is not in any way damaged or anything and I looked after it quite well.
If I have to buy a new printer now, I will buy (even though this one is just over a year old), but I am concern I may not be able to install any software again.
Thank you again for letting me know that my Mac does not require Rosetta. That helped to know.
