Why can't I sync my home video to my ipod? It's showing up in itunes.

I filmed a 20 min video on my Sony HD Camera.

I then downloaded handbrake and converted the file from .wts to mp4 so it would show up on itunes.

But that wasn't good enough and I had to conver the file again so that it would be in "optimal mobile device format."

Great. But my problem is, that my video is showing up in itunes in the "Home Videos" section of "movies." However, no matter how many times I sync my itunes with my ipod, I can't find my video on it. There isn't even a "home videos" tab that shows up on my device.

I've done all this work so I could watch my video on my ipod touch and now it just won't sync. Why?

Yes. My music videos show up as well as my "real" movies. But for some reason my little 20 minute home movie that can play in itunes is not showing up on my ipod even though the FAQ says that once you convert it to mobile device format, it should work.

What is the detail format of the converted video?

Did you use the iPhone/iPod preset output in HandBrake? I have used them with no problem to sync to my iPod.

How do you find out what the detail format of the converted video is? Yes, I used the specific ipod preset in HandBrake. I also made sure I converted it as a large file and web optimized because I thought that would help.

Right click on the move in the iTunes library and select Get Info. The format is under the Summary tab.

It is an MPEG-4 video file. It's also 289.9 MB if you need to know that. Bit rate is 156 kbps.

FIXED IT. For those of you who may be having the same problem, this is what I eventually had to do.

1. erase my entire ipod

2. put it all back on there

That seems simple but it also seems pointless. I do not know why I had to do this because I had already downlodaded the newest version of itunes, put everything on the cloud, and then downloaded everything back off of the cloud.

But for some reason I had to go in and

1. put things from cloud back into library

2. erase ipod (which had already had cloud info put back on it)

3. transfer all library data straight from library to ipod (without use of cloud this time)

For some reason this made my video show up on my ipod and not just my itunes.
