Lost all contacts in contact view only

I have seen a lot of similar posts but none have helped me so far, so asking myself.

My contacts have suddenly disappeared from my contacts page. Some names from 'recents' disappeared (but not all) and in my messages, all my messages have the contact names still. If I type a new message and search contacts that also works fine. It is like they are still in my phone but not visible.

Before this happened my messages did not crash like others have, I have not recently updated my software, I wasn't even in the settings folder to accidentally turn something off.

Any ideas would be great please.

Hello Cunningfoxgirl

Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and look to see if you are using a syncing service for your contacts to make sure that it is on. This would apply with iCloud, Gmail and other accounts that offer contact syncing.
