iTunes Mac or Windows

I have a question about iTunes and whether or not it is better to "manage" your iTunes library on a Mac or Windows. Maybe, the answer is there isn't really a difference. However, I would think that since iTunes is a Apple product and a Mac is an Apple product, maybe Apple favors managing AND using your iTunes library on a Mac versus a PC. The same goes for your iPhone and iPod.

In terms of "manage", I am speaking of your music collection, movies, apps, books, album artwork, etc... on a Mac is better and there is better software tools that can help to maintain the library. I realize that you can pretty much do the same on a Windows computer as you can on a Mac. For the most part.

I am curious to know how many users prefer to "manage" and maintain there iTunes library on a Mac versus a PC. Currently, I use a PC to "manage" and maintain my library and I may switch to a Mac for this task. I have a lot of music and apps.

Should I stick with a PC or switch to a Mac?

It is funny how some questions get a lot of hits and responses on this forum while other questions, not one response. It is sad to see all of the Mac users that troll this site and I mean die hard Mac users that live and breath Mac products can't tell me the difference, IF ANY, between iTunes on a Mac versus iTunes on a Windows computer. I understand that Apple strives on making certain products like iTunes to function the same on a Mac and a Windows computer. However, Apple needs to throw in some hidden tools or utilities for the Mac users which the average Windows user will not notice. I am not talking about using 3 party tools or utilities either.

I know this question has been asked before somewhere in other forums. To the average user, there might NOT be any differences between the two versions. Under the hood, there has to be some differences. I have been a Windows user for many years now and I like using the Mac for certain tasks over a PC. In this day and age, when you have a large collection of music, APPs, iPhone and iPod backups, there has to be a better way to "manage" your devices and related stuff in iTunes. For example, when you have over 100 missing album artwork in iTunes, who wants to manually find the cover artwork and import it into iTunes. If you have 50+ orphan tracks or duplicates, who wants to MANUALLY delete this stuff.

I don't want to get into a discussion of Mac versus Windows stuff. I am not getting into this personal choice discussion either.

I have a Mac and a Windows computer. In order to "manage" my collection of music, APPs and device backups, would I be better off using iTunes on a Mac OR iTunes on a Windows computer?

I think most people have one computer so this is a non-question for them. Then too, the difference in iTunes between the two is minimal. In fact you can keep libraries on an external drive and move it between platforms so it really is a non-issue. I guess if you're heavy into using scripts then it strikes me there is a richer variety available on the Mac platform, but would that influence me in my computer purchase? It would be like letting aftermarket roofrack choice affect the model car I buy.

The second part of your previous post isn't so much a Mac iTunes vs. a Windows iTunes thing, it's a question of features available. Frankly unless you're talking third party feature availability you get what's there and I think it's probably 99% overlap Mac vs. Windows (in fact on Windows you can play and convert Windows media format, but not on Mac). If you want something that's not there you can try hitting your head against a brick wall and send feedback/suggestions to Apple.

Since I use scripts frequently I think I am better off on the Mac platform but I haven't really looked at scripts for Windows (I do know there's a few that do things not available on Mac).
