Keynote is telling me that I need a newer version before I can open my document. I have the latest version and I am able to open older versions. Whats up?

I have the same problem. I shared my presentation on iCloud, someone else made a modification. Now it says I need a newer keynote version to open the doc. I stil can open it in iCloud, but not with the local application.

Right click and select open with Keynote 6.1

Change permanently using Get Info then Open with and select 6.1 then Change All

What I noticed is that I am on version 6.0.1 on a french environment and you speak about 6.1. Yet, there is no available update for keynote. Is there a way to know the exact expected version for the document ?

Keynote 6.01 is an old version, you must update to Keynote 6.1 from the Mac App Store.

No way, the system is not proposing any updates.

Close Mac App Store

Delete Keynote from the Applications folder

Open and log in to Mac App Store again; in the Purchase Tab: Keynote > Install

I thrashed the keynote application, but the Mac Store purchase tab says that Keynote is installed.

There is no way to force reinstall it.

I resolved the issue with forcing a keynote reinstall with the Apple suppor. Thanks.

I am having the same problem. Latest Keynote installed (on Mavericks), but in a different account it tells me I cannot open the file I just saved under the latest version. No way to update the software, so Apple makes it impossible for me to continue my work. This is extremely annoying.

Good that there is still Microsoft software around: I probably will have to switch back to MS Office. In the recent years, I spent a lot of time converting thousands of slides from PowerPoint to Keynote :-(.

I am starting to get VERY bad feelings about Apple... Can we sue them for giving us such strange kinds of problems?
