Retina MacBook Pro & Apple Remote control

Good morning,

I have a question about Apple Remote control. I am a happy owner of the higher end of RMBP'15 (Late 2013). Recently I bought an Apple Remote control as I am in need of it during various business presentations. Unfortunately (and due to lack of my attention) I found out a bit too late that the newest models of RMBPs don't have infrared connection.

My question is whether there is a possibility to substitute this feature (externally for example).
