Q: Why is my Mac's Memory now being used up at a phenomenal rate after 10.9.2 update!

After the latest update to 10.9.2 my physical memory (16GB) is now being used up at a great rate of knots! This can occur within 15 - 30 mins of use and not many applications being used.

None of it is freed up after quitting applications too. It just sits there at 15.98GB used and my computer eventually slows as evidenced by the Memory Pressure gauge on the Activity Monitor application.

Apple please do something to fix this very annoying problem for me.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), 16GB, 1TB HDD, 500GB SSD

Look at what Apps are using the RAM. There might be a clue in the Memory tab of Activity Monitor.
